The Accident and Emergency Department for Birmingham is located in the Queen Elizabeth Hospital close to Birmingham University. Birmingham has many pharmacies located throughout the city. The main one in the city centre is Boots on New Street.
Although Birmingham is a relatively safe city, it is known throughout the UK for violence in the Broad Street area on a Saturday night when large, drink and drug fuelled 'party' groups descend on the city. You should try to avoid being drawn into any confrontations with such groups and steer clear of them at all times. Dangerous streets on a Saturday night are Broad Street to the west and around the Arcadian Centre in the city centre. Birmingham's Police Station can be found to the north east of the city centre on Steelhouse Lane, next to Birmingham Children's Hospital.
