Currently in the Championship League (formerly Division 1), season runs from late August to May. With the hopes of Premier status, a new stadium is being built a few hundred yards opposite on the old Leckwith moors and current athletics stadium.

Season runs from April to September. Most home matches are played at Sophia Gardens, just outside the city centre, though some matches are played at Swansea and North Wales.

Cardiff Devils Ice Hockey Club website
Now moved down to the bay to a temporary home before the new sports village opens, the Devils entertain at a fast and furious pace, keeping spectators leaping to their feet throughout many an enthralling match!

Wales Rally GB website
After being moved up the calendar to September in the past couple of years, Wales Rally GB returns to being the season finale of the FIA World Rally Championship, taking place in December 2007. The Cardiff Stage - the world’s first indoor Special Stage - proved to be very popular last year, attracting an audience which exceeded expectations into the Millennium Stadium.

Cardiff Half Marathon website
There will not be a Cardiff Full Marathon this year due to the cost of putting on this event and the relevant lack of take up. However, the Cardiff Half Marathon will be going ahead and will take place on Sunday 14 October 2007. The route is going to be amended and it is planned that it will take in more of the city centre and the attractions of our fair city than the previous course. The start and finish will be at Cardiff City Hall.

National Indoor Athletics Centre UWIC Cyncoed • Tel (029) 2041 6777 • website
The indoor Centre includes a 200m banked track, 140m straight, and designated areas for all throwing and jumping events. The Centre can accommodate other sports including netball, basketball and volleyball. The facility is fully equipped to international standard and has a seating capacity for 690 spectators. The Centre is open to members of the general public. Governing bodies of sport also use this facility on a regular basis such as the Athletics Association of Wales (AAW) and the Welsh Netball Association (WNA).

Facilites operated by the council include the Athletic Stadium, Llanishen Sailing Centre, Cardiff Riding School, Maindy Cycle Track and local Leisure Centres. Although there isn't currently a world class swimming facility in Cardiff - since the demolition of the Empire Pool a few years back - there are several smaller pools throughout the city. The facility offers a 100 metre dry ski slope, an overhead poma ski lift and a lubrication roller ensuring good skiing and snowboarding conditions even in dry weather. The complex is fully floodlit for evening skiing or boarding.
