Chester is not reknown for its nightlife but the city has a good number of bars and clubs in the city centre. There's also a wide selection of restaurants in the city centre or travel over to Hoole for some of the city's best. Finally, why not take in a show at the Storyhouse.

Theatres, concerts and cinemas

Chester has several venues which draw visitors form far and wide. The Live Rooms host gigs and concerts whilst the Storyhouse has a wide variety of productions throughout the year.

Chester Restaurants

Chester has a wide selection of restaurants, with many national chains moving into the city. There are though plenty of great independent restaurants too dotted throughout the central area. Popular dining areas are Bridge Street, Northgate Street and City Road close to Chester railway station.

City Centre

The city is full of well known restaurants, bars and a few clubs. Check out Bridge Street with its outdoor seating or Watergate Street and Foregate Street. Saturday nights are liveliest, especially if there's horse-racing at The Roodee.

Inner City

There are quite a few good restaurants in Inner City Chester. In the artisan Hoole you'll find many independent gems, or head over towards the railway station and along City Road for extra choices.

Saturday night is Chester's biggest night out and the city is particularly lively. The busiest bars and clubs can be found within the city centre, especially around Watergate Street and Northgate Street, with many in the Foregate Street area too.

Chester's bars are scattered through the city centre. Start on Foregate Street and its side streets, St John Street and Love Street, then head over to St Werburgh Street, off Eastgate Street.
