Yard Late
Bar
St Mary Street,
Cardiff
Brain's Flag-ship
bar was once the old Brain's brewery's pub and shop, The
Albert. The old pub sign is all that's left of the history
- hanging out of place next to the entrance bar. Stripped
back to exposed walls it's quite big and spread over two
levels. Food was good, although they didn't have much
of the menu left and we had to ask for the tables to be
cleared. The drinks are pretty pricey - £16 for a pint
and two doubles! |

Copa
Bar
Wharton Street, Cardiff
Pleasantly refurbished
with an upmarket feel. Cool for a quiet, relaxed drink.
The many continental beers gives it a unique appeal.

Great Western Late
Bar with Dancefloor
St Mary Street,
Cardiff
Now a Lloydd's No 1
bar, this pretty big place is unique in the way it has
uncovered lighted candles randomly scattered around the
place! Popular at weekends for its cheap drinks. (Formerly
Bushpig, Old Monk) |

Is It?
Late Bar
Wharton Street, Cardiff
Strangely laid out
bar with huge staircase disappearing up to the small first
floor area. Upmarket and popular for food; rather noisey
with a interesting music policy, lively at weekends. |

Prince of Wales Modern
Pub (Wetherspoon)
St Mary Street,
Cardiff
Wetherspoon's first
pub in Cardiff, and probably their biggest. Set in an
old theatre the building itself is impressive, but the
atmosphere and tardy bar service let it down big time.
Still popular though for its cheap drinks and food. |

Zync Late
Bar with Dancefloor
Mill Lane,
Cardiff
Trying to be upmarket,
there's something not quite right here. Maybe it's the
dodgy wall pictures; or the annoying disco lights in the
first floor lounge; or the warm bottles of bud; or is
it the £3 pints? (Formerly Sam's Bar) |

Hard Rock Café
Bar with Restaurant
St
Mary Street, Cardiff
Although world reknown, this isn't a great branch of the chain.
The bar section is tiny, with the bar itself shaped like the bow of a ship and taking up most of the space. The restaurant part isn't
much better, with a very cramped feeling layout. |
