Heath Park Miniature Railway
Heath Park, King George V Drive, Heath, Cardiff. CF14 4EN • (029) 2075 5731
Well equipped miniature railway with two track ovals, a tram line and associated stations and bridges. The line runs through the parkland of Heath Park.
The Heath Park Miniature Railway and Tramway has been developed by the voluntary efforts of the members of the Cardiff Model Engineering Society, a non-profit making organisation.
The site was derelict when the CMES took it over. It was the site of the old Heath House and its out buildings. The hall had unfortunately fallen into disrepair and been vandalised. All the buildings were eventually pulled down by the council. The site as you see it today has been totally landscaped with borders and areas planted out. Period style railway buildings form the stations, signal box and tram shed. This has all been done by the members of the CMES and paid for out of the takings on public open days. The site is maintained by the society members and considerable care is taken with all safety aspects of the area.
The railway operates once a month on Sundays and several bank holiday Mondays - see the website for details. Well worth a visit.
