Wetlands Reserve, Cardiff Bay

Created in 2002, Cardiff Bay Wetlands Reserve is already a great centre for wildlife. The wetlands were created when the barrage was completed and the previous saline mudflats were transformed into freshwater marshland and a 400 acre lake.

Today the reserve is an important site for over-wintering and breeding birds and is very popular with birdwatchers who come to see the rare birds. It is also a good place to come for the casual visitor to enjoy wildlife and the views across the Bay.
