Museums and Art Galleries: Cardiff Bay (Waterfront)
Norwegian Church Arts Centre
Harbour Drive, Cardiff Bay, Cardiff. CF10 4PA • (029) 2087 7959
The Norwegian Church Arts Centre is one of the landmark buildings situated in Cardiff Bay. Formerly a Church for Norwegian Sailors, the iconic building dates back to the industrial revolution, when Cardiff Docks was the world's greatest exporter of coal.
The church was originally on the Bute Dock but was luckily saved, carefully dismantled and moved to its present position when the docks were redeveloped. Have a look around the Grieg Room (main hall), the Dahl Gallery upstairs, named after children's author Roald Dahl who was christened at the Church or pop into the Norsk Café for a coffee or a bite a eat. The Dahl Gallery showcases work by local artists, students and touring exhibitions visiting Cardiff.
